Commercial truck tires are among the heaviest consumer tires. These tires have a very high load range.

Before talking about the Monster truck, I’m dropping here whether you can put 33 inch tires on 18 inch rims so you get the right guide if you’re confused about the tire ratios and diameters.

Monster Truck

Standard monster truck tires are like tractor tires, on the contrary, weigh 800 to 900 lbs. These massive tires are often carved out manually from older tires of huge fertilizer spreaders. The original tires weigh a lot more than that.

Monster truck tires are carved out of these large tires with a hot knife for 8 to 12 hours. Throughout the carving process the tire can lose up to 300 lbs of rubber.

How Much Does The Weight of A Tire Matter?

The weight of a tire matters when it comes to gas mileage, handling and braking:

  1. Gas mileage: When the traffic is high and you need to start and stop frequently, smaller tires will increase fuel economy. This is because smaller tires have less rolling resistance.

On the contrary, larger tires will have higher fuel economy on the freeway, as they have more inertia. The reason for this is that smaller wheels and tires are easier to get moving than larger ones.

However, once they are in motion, the engine has to work harder to make them cover the same distance as larger wheels. Hence, larger wheels will provide better fuel economy during cruising.

  1. Handling: Lighter tires can significantly improve your vehicle’s handling and responsiveness. Your cornering and lap time can improve significantly if you reduce the weight of your tires. Lightweight tires will also improve your acceleration.
  1. Braking:  The heavier your tires, the more the rolling inertia. Inertia is the tendency of your tires to remain in its state of motion. If you are driving with heavy tires, the braking distance of your car will increase.

FAQs

How Much Does A Tire Weigh at The Gym

Tires at the gym can weigh from 25 lbs, all the way to 1000 lbs. If your gym has a typical passenger car tire, it will weigh around 25 lbs. But bigger 26.5 x 25 tractor tires can weigh as much as 1000 lbs or more.

How Much Do Forklift Tires Weigh

Forklift tires weigh 52 lbs, on average. This is the weight of a standard solid 16x7x10.5 forklift tire which is commonly used. A 21x7x15 forklift tire, on the other hand, can weigh as high as 200 lbs. These tires are made of solid rubber and can not be punctured. This is ideal for use in  an industrial setting with lots of sharp objects.

How Much Do Nascar Tires Weigh

A typical nascar tire will weigh 26 lbs.  This is the weight of a typical 18 inch nascar tire. The aluminum rim used with these tires weigh about 22 inches. So, together, a nascar wheel will weigh roughly 50 lbs.

Conclusion

Now you know how much does a tire weigh. Tire weight depends on lots of different factors. You should always use the correct type of tire of the appropriate weight with your vehicle. I hope it wasn’t too difficult for you to get the answer to your question.

That is it for today. All the best and goodbye!
