1965 – 1973 Ford Mustang.

Out of all, the most reliable Mustang years come from the 1st gen models. 1964 – 1973 models need less repair and last for around 200k miles without giving hassle.

The 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971, & 1973 Mustang models are reliable from 1st gen.

These models are glory trucks as they own both style and power to run like a cheetah. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have downsides. You might need to compromise emissions and fuel spending.

1974 – 1978 Ford Mustang.

In the 2nd gen Mustang trucks, you won’t find a single model that is reliable for drivers. Due to lack of performance and bad driving impression, most find 1974 – 1978 cars insulting to call trustworthy.

These models have serious issues with emission control which causes RPMs and reliability to go down. Plus, a large group of users finds it worse in style and safety.

1979 – 1993 Ford Mustang.

The 3rd generation Mustang models are not-so-good in function to call them reliable. You can’t depend on trucks that have some issue with controls and safety resulting in you facing harsh driving.

A lot of drivers avoid these models due to their sick performance. However, these models are pretty inexpensive and require less maintenance or cleaning. By changing or upgrading some parts, you can make them reliable.

1994 – 2004 Ford Mustang.

Coming to the 4th gen models which rock in reliability for drivers, these Mustang trucks are great in performance and seems easy to use.

The 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, & 2004 Mustang models are reliable from 4th gen.

The 1998 and 1999 models might give struggles for ordinary drivers to get the desired performance. Except for these 2 trucks, all models are worth in style, usage, dependency, and other purposes too.

2005 – 2014 Ford Mustang.

From the 5th gen Mustang models, you’ll see a lot of trucks that are unbeatable in terms of reliability. These trucks are handy to use that save fuel usage as well as ensure better speeding up.

The 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, & 2014 Mustang models are reliable from 5th gen.

The 2005 – 2014 Ford Mustang reliability is excellent and lets users fully depend on it without facing struggles or hiccups.

2015 – 2022 Ford Mustang.

As the 1st to 5th gen Mustang models are hard to find in the market, most are looking for reliability in the 2015 – 2022 trucks. Here is the Ford Mustang reliability rating based on user’s impression on 6th gen models:

Model YearUser’s ExperienceReliability Rating
2015 Ford Mustang92 out of 1002 out of 5 stars
2016 Ford Mustang90 out of 1002.5 out of 5 stars
2017 Ford Mustang89 out of 1003.5 out of 5 stars
2018 Ford Mustang88 out of 1002.5 out of 5 stars

2021 Ford Mustang84 out of 1003 out of 5 stars
2022 Ford Mustang93 out of 1001 out of 5 stars

If looking at the reliability score, you can see the 2020 Ford Mustang is the only one that ranks well according to users. And other models will cause hassle when used for a long-term period.
